There are several ways to navigate in StreamBIM, including using these keys on the keyboard:
- Arrow keys (forward, backward, right, and left)
- W, S, D, A (forward, backward, right, and left)
- R - up
- F - down
- By holding down the "shift" key, you will move faster.
You can turn around in the model with the left mouse button or by clicking on the touchpad on a laptop. You can move back and forth by scrolling with the mouse wheel or panning by clicking and holding down the mouse wheel.
Another great way to navigate is by using the 2D map. There you can click with the left mouse button and drag around in the model.
You can also zoom in and out on the 2D map by hovering the mouse pointer over the map and scrolling the mouse wheel. On a laptop and touchpad, this can be done by dragging two fingers away from and toward each other. Zooming out will give you a better overview of the model and allow you to move over longer distances easily. Zooming in will make it easier to see exactly where you are in the model and move over shorter distances.
By double-clicking on the 2D map, you will get a full-screen view of the 2D map. You can double-click on the 2D map to return to the 3D model. By holding down the "shift" key and clicking with the left mouse button, you can rotate the 2D map.
There are also other ways to adjust the size of the 2D map. You can click and drag the orange triangle in the upper left corner of the 2D map to choose a custom size for the map. By clicking on the screen icon on the 2D map, you get more options on how you want to split the screen between 2D and 3D.
There are three different navigation modes in StreamBIM. You can find these by clicking on the three orange dots on the 2D map. You can also use "1", "2", and "3" on the keyboard to switch between these modes.
"Person", "spin" and "globe". Inside the building, it is advantageous to use "person" as it makes it easier to turn around in rooms. Outside the building, it can be advantageous to use "spin".
By clicking on the floor name, you will see a list of all the floors in the model, allowing you to easily jump between floors.
With the magnifying glass, you can search for room objects in the model. A list of rooms that match your search will appear. You can then select a room from the list, and you will be moved to that room.
By clicking on the house icon on the 2D map, you will be moved to what is defined as the home position for the project. This is something that project administrators choose. Adjustments made to the 2D map, hidden objects, and sections will also be reset.
