Some StreamBIM projects use large IFC models. When navigating in large projects your PC performance is affected by the size of these models. Many PCs have dedicated graphics cards that should help with 3D performance, however, these are often not configured to be used by Internet browsers. You need to configure your graphics card to get the best performance from your PC when using StreamBIM.
This article describes how to set up your graphics card so that StreamBIM utilizes this resource and thereby performs better.
Right-click on your desktop and choose “Show more options”
Select the graphic card control panel(in this case Nvidia):
In the control panel select first Google Chrome (or the browser you use for StreamBIM) and Nvidia as the main graphics processor.
To verify that the dedicated graphics card is being used by your browser, open StreamBIM, then open the task manager and select “Performance”. You should see memory usage in the histogram for the dedicated graphics card.
You may also need to change Settings. Open your PC settings and choose System/Display/Graphics. Select your preferred StreamBIM browser, click on “Options” and choose “High Performance”.
