To standardise the data structure in StreamBIM projects across organisations we have introduced Libraries and Templates.
Libraries are StreamBIM containers where you store the Checklists, Workflows, Groups, Document labels, Folders and Report templates that your organisation uses. You can create several libraries if you want to separate types of content. For example you might want to hold Infrastructure related content and Building related content in different Libraries.
Templates are template projects. From a template you create a new project, with the content that has been selected for the type of project. This gives organisations the option of operating with templates for different types of projects. You could have a template for Schools, Residential, Commercial buildings etc. You can, of course, just operate with one template by copying all your library content to one project.
Enter the page for managing Project Templates page here, on the landing page after logging in to StreamBIM:
The template management page is divided into 3 main sections
- Template list
- Library list and content
- Template content
Follow these steps to create and edit templates
- Select existing or create a new template.
- Select existing or create new library.
- Select content to copy from your library to the template
- Copy content from library to template using this button
- View content in your template.
Once you have created your templates you can use these each time you create a new project, thereby ensuring your organisation uses the same project structure at the start of a project.
Libraries and templates can be updated whenever you see the need for adjusting the content.
Now, when you create a new project you can use your organisation’s templates. You can still select from StreamBIM default templates or select an existing project you have access to as a template.
