This guide shows you how to export data from StreamBIM to Power BI. First, contact SteamBIM support to enable the Power BI feature for your projects. Once your project is prepared, you can export various data types, such as user information, checklists, topics, and IFC searches.
1. Export user information
To get information about users, go to the user's screen and find the export to PowerBI as one of the options from the top right corner.
2. Export checklist information
To get information about checklists, just go to checklist and expand the view to see the reports, you will see in the corner the 3 dots button that will contain a new export option.
3. Export topics information
To get information about topics, go to topics list view, where you will have also the option to export to PowerBI.
4. Export search information
To get information about IFC searches, make any search, choose the list view, and click the download icon to see options for exporting to PowerBI.
5. Add description
Add a description to easily track personal references before copying to the clipboard. This step is optional.
6. Get data into PowerBI
Now in PowerBI, we need to find where to paste the text that StreamBIM has generated for us. In PowerBI, you just need to select 'Get data", and pick "Blank query".
7. Open Advanced Editor
Why? because the query is exactly what StreamBIM has done for us. Once PowerBI opens the screen for data handling just find the option "Advanced Editor" and directly paste there the text from StreamBIM.
8. Delete Query
Delete these expressions in the query editor
9. Paste in StreamBIM Query
Paste in StreamBIM query and click done
10. Click on "Close & Apply"
The data appears in a table. You can edit the table if need be, then close:
11. StreamBIM Data Ready in Power BI
The StreamBIM query is now in Power BI, ready for you to build visuals.
You can also refresh the data from StreamBIM by clicking refresh.
